"The Philippine Literature"
3.1 Based on the given articles, identify and discuss the literary forms/elements from the following:
a. Early Phil. Literature
Philippine literature is a literature on Philippines from the prehistory through the colonial legacies and from prehistory to the current day. In pre- Hispanic Philippines Literature which began as an oral tradition, epics were passed down from the generation to generation.
Early Philippine literatures most fascinating poetic and narrative forms, however, critics and anthropologists refer to the Philippine epics as ethno-epics. Philippine archipelago had a native alphabet, among the Tagalog and it was called baybayin, songs, proverbs, riddles lyric, and short poems these were the parts of epic poems that written. A literary scholar Dr. Resil Mojares claims that they were created and some of it are yet unwritten. In terms of shorter narratives there are tales of the people's origins, their ancestors, and their ancestors’ ancestors’ ancestors’ ancestors’, the sky, stars, and oceans the story of how man and woman came to be the popular one.

b. Phil. Literature in Spanish Colonial Period
The strategy of Spanish colonial is to undermine the native oral tradition by substituting the story of Passion Christ. The literature of Philippines ethnic groups at times of conversion and conquest was into Christianity and was mainly oral. The industrial revolution had resulted into a massive mobility of people commerce over the world, generating riches and providing opportunities for the material advancement, the working-class way of life social values was altered as the result of the massive material shifts.
The Philippine Literature was born in Spanish. There was a rich literary tradition in the islands before the arrival of the Spaniards but it was the Spaniards who began to publish those stories and tales. Hispanic-Philippine literature was doomed, the tragedy of losing the readers, and despite their interest.

c. Phil. Literature in American Period
During the American period in Philippines, literary production was prolific and was spurred 2 significant developments, culture and education. Introduction for free public instruction for all children of school age, and use of English medium of the instruction in all the levels of education of public schools. As a direct outcome of American colonization of Philippines.
Two major changes in education and culture have sparked this movement. its used as a medium of instruction in all levels of the educationin public schools, country, and could not avoid imitating American by writing methods, particularly during the apprenticeship term.
3.2 Discuss the significant development of the following period.
a. Early Philippine Literature
Philippine literature is a literature on Philippines from the prehistory through the colonial legacies and from prehistory to the current day. In pre- Hispanic Philippines Literature which began as an oral tradition, epics were passed down from the generation to generation.
b. Philippine Literature in Spanish Colonial Peiod
The existent literature of the Philippine ethnic groups at the time of invasion and colonization. Philippine archipelago had a native alphabet, among the Tagalog and it was called baybayin, songs, proverbs, riddles lyric, and short poems these were the parts of epic poems that written. The conquistadors particularly their clerical arm destroyed everything. He used whatever written literature he could discover to render the writing system (e.g., the Tagalog syllabary) has become unusable.
c. Philippine Literature in American Period
During the American period in Philippines literary production was prolific. Two major changes in education and culture have sparked this movement. The 1st one is introduction of free public education for all school-aged children and two, the use of English as the second language in public schools, the medium of teaching is English at all levels.
3.3 How have these literary peiod shaped our (a) ideological perspectives (b) societal values (c) political views? Discuss each.

The ideological perspective is defined as the asset of assumptions that make up groups imagined universe. According to Althusser is “a presentation of individuals imaginary relation to the real condition of existence” thus referring to both of the real and imaginary reference to the world.
b.
Societal values a significant influence on the evolution of society. Has shaped civilizations, altered political systems, ang brought injustice to light. Literature provides a detailed glimpse into the human experiences, allowing us to connect on basic levels of desire and motion. It also serves as a model for people to emulate the virtues or positive qualities that exist in society
c.
Political views, people can compare and contrast prose, theatre, and other types of literature produced in different eras and culture by dividing literature into periods. Literature reflects positive and negative societal values. It inspires us to replicate excellent ideals in society by reflecting them. Literature often serves as a reflection of what people think, do and say in the society.
