Tolosa, Keisha Faye D. - Written Work 2
Critical Analysis on the Philippine Literature
by: Frank R. Blake
Philippine Literature is a reflect in a various groups of works; traditional folktales, sociopolitical histories, and a real-life experiences.
As stated by Blake the tribes' languages have generated little or nothing that can be considered literature in the sense of being aesthetic and graceful. In the written form just a few of the Pagan tribes' languages exist and the Moros have never acquired a knowledge to print hence all of their literary works are in a manuscript form written in a slightly modified version of the Arabic alphabet similar to that used by the Malaysians of the Malay Peninsula. Now Christianized Filipinos had a native alphabet and comparable to those who still used by the Tagbanwa's of Palawan and Mangyans of Mindoro at the time of Spanish discovery and conquest in the 16th century. There are native Mss. notices the all-surviving works from the Spanish period and have been preserved in at least one Spanish writer, but none of these have been taken care to this day and even the antique alphabets have been gone.
Blake give annotation in every different tribe in the island of the Philippines. Blake focus is on the words themselves as well as a purposeful and deliberate arrangement to produce a pleasing or enriching impact about of the Philippines language and the other works. It makes the readers aware of and informed about one's culture, allowing them to appreciate it more, the more we value our own culture the easier it will be established our Filipino citizenship.
The article was presented clearly and accurately with the order and coherence since Blake provides examples and works of the previous peoples in tribes of the Philippines Island. The Moreso, we can see how Blake sequence the ideas from Pre-Colonial to Colonial times of Spanish.
Blake hand over the Philippine literature by introducing the different tribe which be owned by the native population of the Philippines. Blake even talked about and introduced the different languages that were used by the different tribes in the Philippines to colonial era.
